A brief history of Waking Dream Studios

Jordan MorrisWaking Dream Studios was started by Jordan Morris in 2005 as a company name to make films under. A life long film fan, Jordan had been writing scripts for several years and had become increasingly disillusioned with the output of UK films. The initial idea was to be self sufficiant like Los Hooligans Productions, now Troublemaker Studios, and become proficient in all areas of film making from writing through to mastering. Only two films were made in this solo format and of those only Messy Monkey remains.

In 2006, Jordan met Richard Reynolds, also a film fan but equally interested in comics and illustration. Richard ReynoldsThe pair collaborated on the short horror film Overtime and discovered a common interest in producing films in a different way. Too often, film makers use money as an excuse for failed projects and happily sit on the side lines complaining about the lack of funding available. Waking Dream aims to prove that creativity and hard work make good films and money is mearly a luxury. Over the next 18 months, the pair produced 6 short films frequently switching directing and producing roles and pushing each other to ever higher quality levels.

As well as making Waking Dream films, Jordan also worked with another local film company, SIA Films, on a number of productions. From this, he met Adam White who would go on to be one of Waking Dream's most important collaborators. Adam is a trained DP and has worked at all levels of the industry. His knowledge of lighting and camera systems and ability to adapt to all conditions have made him a vital member of the team.

Adam WhiteWith every project we work on we meet new people who expand our team and bring with them new skills and expertise and while there are too many to list you know who you are and we look forward to working with you again soon. While the Waking Dream team continues to expand the goal remains the same, to produce high quality, entertaining films without the need for high budgets.
